Poised to become Downey’s new community gathering spot and shopping destination
The Promenade at Downey was once the proud home to a division of NASA, and later to a special effects movie studio also developed by IRG. This mixed-use development will include shops and restaurants, a state-of-the-art movie theater, and a health club.

The Promenade at Downey is a new promenade-style shopping center development to be built in Downey, California on the site of the former Downey Studios. The Promenade at Downey is poised to become Downey’s new community gathering spot and shopping destination, in a historical area that used to house Downey’s aerospace and entertainment industries. The site is designed as a mixed-use development, and will include 450,000 square feet of retail space, including a wide array of shops and restaurants, a state-of-the-art movie theater, a health club, and other tenants.
Demolition of Downey Studios began in January 2012, and Phase I of construction has been completed, including infrastructure construction and initial site work. Phase II of will include remaining horizontal improvements, vertical improvements, tenant improvements, repairs and operating costs, and is set to begin in the Summer of 2014. Construction should be completed in between 12-15 months, and the grand opening is planned for late 2015.
